In the recent past, Migrants Rights International (MRI) celebrated its 20th anniversary. Over the years, the noble organization has been fighting for migrant, civil, and human rights.
To this end, MRI has been working closely with other rights advocate groups such as the United Nations Human Rights Council, the World Conference on Women, the Global Forum on Migration & Development, and the World Summit on Social Development.
MRI’s concerted efforts have led to the creation and strengthening of migrants’ rights movements. The organization has organized and launched eight international civil society conferences. These conferences are popularly known as People’s Global Action on Migration, Development, & Human Rights. MRI has members spread across the globe.
These members are actively involved in advocating for respect, protection, and fulfillment of various human rights. They mainly focus on issues affecting migrants in their regions or countries. The efforts of MRI members have fostered unity and ensured the inclusion of migrants’ voices in formulation of different policies.
Recently, the rights group launched a new campaign called Step it Up: Dignity, Rights, Development/Marking 25 Years of the UN Migrant Workers’ Convention. Learn more about Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin: https://twitter.com/JimLarkin_
